1. Better Universities Renewal Funding
The Better Universities Renewal Funding (BURF) is a one off $500 million initiative of the Government.
The Government decided that immediate access to capital funding is required to renew universities' infrastructure. The Better Universities Renewal Funding assists all higher education providers.

2. 2009 Institutional Assessment Framework Information Collection (IAFIC)
As in previous years, DEEWR will be collecting information through the IAFIC to inform development of institution performance portfolios. IAFIC documentation is due for return to DEEWR in mid August 2009.
DEEWR and DIISR have announced that they will be meeting with universities during July and August for strategic discussions and about the introduction of mission-based compacts.
