Group of 8 Performance Analysis
The Group of Eight (Go8) was formally constituted in 1999 and consists of:
- The Australian National University;
- Monash University;
- The University of Adelaide;
- The University of Melbourne;
- The University of New South Wales;
- The University of Queensland;
- The University of Sydney; and
- The University of Western Australia.
The University of Melbourne´s performance relative to peer universities in the Group of Eight is a key indicator of how Melbourne is positioned within the Australian higher education sector. Benchmarking is conducted on the basis of data gathered from a number of sources, including institution annual reports, DEST statistics collections, research grant information and Go8-initiated data-sharing exercises.
